Japanese Sandal - Waraji

waraji3.JPG

Just remembered that I forgot to post the picture of the Waraji that I bought at the Kimono Café the other day.

In the olden days it’s worn by the monks (maybe The Monkeys were wearing them when training in the Monkeys Temple), but now it’s one of the kimono fashion footwear.  Since it’s made of fabric, it’s best worn as room wear.  For outdoor use, the geta is recommended.

There were quite a few choices of Waraji at Ebisumame.  But I’ve chosen this light pink one with green and yellow floral pattern.  Romantic!

I would love to get a pair of waraji. Do you have contact info for Ebisumame? I hope they have a website!

    If you can help, Thanks!
